Is seachtain thábhachtach í Seachtain na Gaeilge anseo i Scoil bhFanóir. Bhí na páistí ag glacadh páirte i roinnt gníomhaíochtaí chun an Ghaeilge a cheiliúradh – ina measc – cluichí ar nós biongó, cluichí focail, Deir O’Gradaigh agus Nathracha agus Dréimirí as gaeilge, am ‘DEAR’ as gaeilge, saor scríbhneoireacht as Gaeilge, ceardlann Portaireachta le Pauric Howley, ag foghlaim ‘Ionsaí na hInse’, comhrá Gaeilge lena chéile, dánta, rannta agus fiú ag cumadh rap as Gaeilge!
Seachtain na Gaeilge is an important week in Fanore celebrating our native language and the children took part in a range of activities including games such as bingo, snakes and ladders, word games and Simon says, DEAR time as Gaeilge, free writing as gaeilge, Irish conversations with each other, a lilting workshop with Pauric Howley, poems, rhymes and even composing a rap as Gaeilge!

History was made today as our very first chess team travelled to Ennis to participate in an inter-school Féile Fichille chess tournament where over 160 children from all over Clare attended. This tournament was non-competitive so there were no overall winners on the day but our team represented the school very well and played some excellent games of chess. All children from 2nd to 6th class have now learned how to play chess at school and we hope to enter more tournaments in the future.
Children in the Junior Room have been exploring fabric and fibre, materials and design in art and science. Their STEM challenge was to design and make an outfit – future fashion designers in the making!
Look at the beautiful beautiful yarn hearts and jars full of ‘Reasons I Love You’ the Junior Room children made for their parents for Valentine’s Day!
For their Bead Jar reward today the children had a ‘mini Olympics’!
