The children in the junior room went to see Niall De Burca in Glór.
What a fun, engaging and interactive show this was.
Here in Fanore N.S we place a huge emphasis on the importance of healthy eating throughout our time at school and at home.
This year both teachers put in place the excellent Food Dudes program which allowed all the children in the school to sample and enjoy a variety of foods over a number of weeks.
The healthy food samples were provided to the children and they received rewards for trying the various fruit and vegetables for e.g carrots, cucumber, peas, peppers etc.
We have seen the positive impact this program has had on the lunch boxes of the children and we would encourage all parents to continue to fill those lunch boxes with healthy fruit and veg.
We went blackberry picking. Children worked in groups to fill their containers.
Thereafter, rhubarb & apples was picked from our school garden to use in the crumble.
On Friday, the children in 5th and 6th class got to work on the crumble. Children chopped the rhubarb and apples. The blackberries were washed and sorted through. Children weighed out the ingredients as per recipe. The fruit was stewed and the crumble was made.
An easy, simple dish using produce from our garden and nearby ditches.
Today, the children in the senior room travelled to Lahinch for a football blitz.
The children were divided up and put into teams with children from other schools.
They played 4 games of football against a different team each time.
Great fun was had by all!
Today, we went to Kilnaboy to participate in the cross country running.
All children from 1st class upwards took part.
Well done to each and every child for completing their own race!
Please note we will be holding a clothes collection on Sept 20th!
Bags can be left into the shed prior to this date!
