FAI Primary School 5s
April 1st, 2022The children took part in the FAI Primary School 5s today. Children from 1st class up were divided into 4 teams for a school blitz. The sun shone on us and everyone had a great time showcasing their soccer skills. We were even treated to an exhibition game from the junior and senior infants! Well done to Miss Kavanagh and Anna for organising and running the day
Literacy Stations
March 30th, 2022This term we began weekly literacy station teaching in the junior room. We have four stations focussing on reading, writing, comprehension and use of technology. The children get to spend 10 minutes at each station before moving on. Station teaching allows teachers to work with smaller groups, covering multiple topics and activities, maximising their time with the students and gaining more knowledge about children’s learning styles as well as identifying potential areas for improvement. The children have been loving stations and are highly engaged each week.
Creative Schools
March 29th, 2022As part of our continued involvement in the Creative Schools Programme, today we had the first of a series of 3 workshops with Katerina Gribkoff. Katerina is a PhD student at the Burren College of Art and will be working with the children to create their own plant based dyes which will then be used to create paintings based on the Burren landscape and plants.
Word Mania
March 29th, 2022Last week and this week, children in the senior room took part in the Word Mania challenge, competing against children from all over the world to create as many words as possible from 15 letters in only three minutes. Well done to our winners, Lily, Simeon, Nate and Ryan and also a big congratulations to our 6th class who have reached the world finals of Word Mania. Best of luck to all the boys and girls.
Beach Clean
March 28th, 2022The sun shone brightly on us as we carried out our beach clean up today. The most recent spring tide had washed up a lot of plastic and rope fragments so there was plenty to be done. The children are very aware of how lucky they are to have the beach on their doorstep and of the importance of everyone doing their part to protect it and keep it clean
