Garden Time

May 1st, 2013

We commenced work today on our garden.

We sowed strawberries, carrots, lettuce, potatoes and turnips.

In our classrooms, our sunflowers, peas and basil are coming along nicely!

Burren Flowers found!!!

Well done to Finn who found the first of the Burren flowers around the school grounds today!

He found a Purple Orchid!




Fundraiser!!!

Sow & Grow!

April 18th, 2013

Today, we planted our seeds as part of the  Sow and Grow Campaign.

We planted peas and basil!

Now we will watch carefully to see what happens!


Native Trees

April 15th, 2013

Today, we planted 30 trees on the school grounds!

The trees include Hawthorn, Holly, Guelder Rose and Spindle and Hazel.

Many thanks to the Native Woodlands Trust for the free trees!


Nurse Ailish

April 15th, 2013

Today as part of Science, we invited Nurse Ailish into the school to speak to us about her job as a nurse.

  • She showed us how to put on bandages and a sling.
  • She took our temperatures and our heart beat.
  • We  tried on two different types of masks.
  • She also allowed us to test some liquids and we watched the results.

It was a very interesting talk and we hope Ailish will return to visit us again.

Columban Missionaries

April 10th, 2013

Today Angie from the Columban Missoinaries came into the school.

She spoke to us about her job as a missionary and her life in the Philippines.She also taught us an action song.


Annual Readathon

March 22nd, 2013

Our Readathon commenced in Nov and finished today.

Well done to all children who put a great effort in reading books and completing book reviews.

A special congratulations to Cindy who received the Outstanding Reading Award!


Flag Day!!

Today, we raised our two flags!

Many thanks to Senator Martin Conway and Davy Fitgerald for taking time out of their busy schedules to come to Fanore.

Many thanks also to our wonderful parents and members of the community who helped make this day a special one!

Also a big thank you to all our pupils for all their hard work and dedication to the  projects without which, we would have not achieved both of these flags!!

Pirates of Penzance

Today, we went to see the show Pirates of Penzance in Lahinch.

It was a superb show! Well done to all the cast and especially to our mom Jo!
